We want to take a moment to speak from the heart about a situation that has arisen this year regarding Tarpley Music Company. As many of you may know, at the beginning of the year we proudly opened our new repair shop in Plano, TX. We were fortunate enough to welcome Tim Andersen, a regionally known musician and former band director in Dallas-Fort Worth; TJ Reinhardt, a well-respected instrument repair tech in Dallas-Fort Worth; and Robert Osborne, another well-respected instrument repair tech in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to our Tarpley family. These talented individuals had previously been part of Williamson Music 1st.
In the spirit of complete transparency, we want to share that we're facing a legal challenge and our Tarpley Music family regrettably finds ourselves in a position where we're currently unable to take on any new orders for rentals or repairs from Plano ISD. Earlier this summer, Williamson Music 1st filed a lawsuit against us here at Tarpley Music, as well as our team members alleging, in part, that the employees’ agreements with Williamson Music 1st prevent them (and therefore Tarpley Music) from maintaining any contact with certain school districts.
Effective Friday, July 21st, Williamson secured a Temporary Injunction Order against us in Collin County Court. For the time being, Tarpley Music and our dedicated Team Members (from any Tarpley Music location) are restricted from maintaining or initiating any form of contact with customers or clients of Williamson Music 1st who are associated with the following school districts: Plano ISD, Wylie ISD, Lovejoy ISD, Richardson ISD, Rockwall ISD, Garland ISD, Denton ISD, Frisco ISD, Prosper ISD, Little Elm ISD, Melissa ISD, McKinney ISD, Coppell ISD, Lewisville ISD, and Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. We truly regret any disruption this may cause with you.
It's important to understand that Williamson's interpretation of this Temporary Injunction Order also restricts Tarpley Music from communicating with any band programs, families of band students, and school district administrators who are involved in vendor selection within the aforementioned school districts. This is a tough situation for Tarpley Music, but we must respect and adhere to the Court's order.
If you have a current rental or repair order with Tarpley Music, your account will remain active, and we are able to service your instrument. However, beyond these specific instances, our ability to communicate and serve you is unfortunately limited for the time being. For information on orders placed before July 21, 2023 please Call/Text us at 469-685-1110 or email us at info@tarpleymusic.com.
We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this might cause within our community. We truly appreciate your understanding as we navigate these complex legal waters, and we look forward to the day when we can reconnect with you all. Our greatest wish is to serve your musical needs and we regret that we're currently unable to do so. Our commitment to music, education, and the welfare of your students and school remains unwavering, and we are doing our utmost to resolve the matter quickly and fairly. We believe in the power of music and the strength of our community, and we're confident that these trials will only make us stronger.
Here's to a year full of learning, growth, and harmony.
Sincerely, Tarpley Music Company, Inc.
